It is a proud moment for the Tamil film industry as Radhakrishnan Parthiban's highly artistic film, Oththa Seruppu Size 7, has become the first ever Tamil language film to be remade in Bahasa by Naveen of PT Falcon, a production house. Bahasa is the official language of Indonesia. No Tamil film has been remade in any of the Indonesian languages so far and Oththa Seruppu has become the first movie to have earned that credit. Oththa Seruppu is a rare attempt in Indian cinema as the film is written, directed, acted and produced by only one man and one man only- R. Parthiban. But with such a creative mind such as him behind the film, a high risk - high reward project as such was definitely worth taking a chance on. The plot of the film basically unfolds as an emotionally unstable murder suspect narrates his side of a murder case when he is questioned by a few police officers.

The film premiered at the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival in 2019. It was released alongside Suriya's Kaappaan. It was later released worldwide later that year and garnered high critical acclaim. The film went on to bag various awards such as the Best Feature Film and Best Feature Film Director via Jury Award and also the Best Solo Act Award, all received at the Toronto Tamil Film Festival. It also got the sound mixing award for Resul Pookutty and the special jury award at the 67th National Film Awards. The film also entered the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for having a single person writing, directing, solo acting and producing a film. The film officially became the thirteenth film in the world with the solo act and also the second South Indian film to feature a single actor with The Guard being the first, a Malayalam film which came out in 2001.
Parthiban is currently working on the Hindi remake of this masterpiece with Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role with Amitabh Bachchan as its acting producer. Ilaiyaraja has been roped in to compose the music for this version of the film. Parthiban also shared a video recently of the Maestro's rerecording session with his orchestra. Apart from this, Parthiban is currently working on his highly ambitious film titled Iravin Nizhal. It is supposedly the first ever single-shot film without consisting of any hidden cuts, unlike other "single-shot- films. It will have the multitalented actor-writer-director-producer team up with Oscar-winning musician A.R. Rahman who will be composing its music. Just when we thought Parthiban has enough titles on his resume, we can also add lyricist to it as he has already written three songs for the upcoming venture.
