The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released the list of 276 films in contention for the 94th Academy Awards on Thursday. Jai Bhim starring Suriya is India's entry into The Academy, which is now in the race with other acclaimed films from Hollywood and around the world that include Dune, King Richard,geless Love and Jockey to name a notable few. The voting for nominations for the 94th Oscars begins on January 27 and will conclude on February 1, with the final list being revealed on February 8. The 94th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 27 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood and will be televised live around the world. Earlier this week, one important scene from Jai Bhim was featured on the Oscars YouTube channel under the section 'Scene At The Academy', with the latest announcement that the film is now in the eligible list for the Academy Awards nominations sending fans into a state of elation. The official description for the courtroom drama on the Oscars YouTube channel is as follows: "Jai Bhim weaves in real case studies helmed by Activist-Lawyer Chandru, who brought justice to indigenous tribes in Tamil Nadu through his relentless efforts. Writer-director TJ Gnanavel reveals how the story narrative was formed and executed."

Suriya's Jai Bhim released on Amazon Prime Video on November 2 and continues to garner praise from fans, with the film also taking the first position in IMDb's list of top films recently. Directed by TJ Gnanavel and produced by Suriya and Jyotika under the 2D Entertainment banner, the story revolved around a legal battle in 1993 that was led by Rtd. Justice Chandru, who fought for the justice of an Irular tribe woman and the people from the oppressed castes who were framed for crimes they did not commit. Suriya portrayed Chandru, with Malayalam actress and Sivappu Manjal Pachai fame Lijomol Jose playing a character named Sengani based on Parvathi ammal, whose life story served as the inspiration for Jai Bhim.
