Christopher Nolan is one of the most outstanding directors of this generation and he is returning to the big screen once again after 5 years with the 2017 war film Dunkirk. Just as his last film, this time it will be a little different too. Nolan, who is best known for his science fiction films like Memento, Inception and Interstellar, will be venturing into a genre that he has never touched before: a biopic.

The film is titled Oppenheimer after J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who is credited with being the "father of the atomic bomb" for his role in the Manhattan Project—the World War II undertaking that developed the first nuclear weapons. The film will follow his life and his works and contributions in his field of work through which he made a name for himself. Oppenheimer is an upcoming American biopic written and directed by Christopher Nolan, based on the American Prometheus, a biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. The film is co-produced by Christopher Nolan alongside his wife Emma Thomas under the banner of the their production house Syncopy Inc. and by Charles Roven under the banner of his production company Atlas Entertainment.

Cillian Murphy will stars in the titular role as J. Robert Oppenheimer with an ensemble of supporting cast that boasts stars such as Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Emma Dumont, Benny Safdie, Josh Peck, Casey Affleck, Kenneth Branagh, Gary Oldman, and Jack Quaid among many others. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released on 21 July 2023.
