Actress Nayanthara or ‘Lady Superstar’ as she is lovingly called by her countless fans was last seen in the ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay blockbuster, Bigil, which released this Diwali. She will next be seen on the big screen in ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s cop film, Darbar, coming out in theatres on January 9, 2020 as a Pongal treat. That said, Nayanthara was recently announced to be part of an upcoming film titled Mookuthi Amman, which incidentally will be popular radio jockey turned actor RJ Balaji’s directorial debut.
Being produced by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh’s Vels Films International banner, filming on Mookuthi Amman officially kicked off today (November 29) at Nagercoil after a ritual pooja at the Bhagavathi Amman Temple in Kanyakumari with veteran artistes Moulee and Urvashi and Thadam heroine Smruthi Venkat gracing the occasion. The first leg of shooting on Mookuthi Amman will be taking place in and around Nagercoil with Nayanthara set to join the team in the days ahead. Aval composer Girish Gopalakrishnan is scoring the music for the film apart from Nayanthara’s other upcoming film, Netrikann, while Dinesh Krishnan of Thaanaa Serndha Koottam fame is handling cinematography and ‘Stunt’ Silva is overseeing the action sequences design. Selva RK of Pariyerum Perumal fame is taking care of editing and costumes are being designed by Divya Nagarajan and Anu Vardhan with Vijayakumar serving on the art direction department.
Fans will know that RJ Balaji had a major starring role alongside Nayanthara in the 2015 smash hit, Naanum Rowdydhaan, with their chemistry being given a double thumbs up by fans and critics alike after which they were seen in the Sivakarthikeyan starrer, Velaikkaran. With RJ Balaji set to share the screen space once again alongside Nayanthara, there is plenty of excitement as he has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues for Mookuthi Amman apart from his role as the co-director along with NJ Saravanan.
