Mahendra Singh Dhoni enjoys a huge popularity around the world and especially in Chennai after he became the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2007. Chennai is almost like a second home to the iconic Indian cricketer, who has led the team since the Twenty20 cricket league was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Under Dhoni's captaincy, CSK has been one of the most consistent teams and the ace cricketer is once again taking the side to the top, and is currently placed in the third spot in the IPL table after five matches in 2023 edition.

Dhoni, whose popularity remains unparalleled, was recently asked at a Chennai Super Kings event about a photo of himself in which he is seen in a pose similar to a picture of 'Superstar' Rajinikanth in Kabali. Social media pages of CSK have posted a video of the event where a man can be heard asking Dhoni, "That's a lovely picture by the way. You look really stunning. You are looking super awesome in this picture. Comparing these two images, where did you seek inspiration from?" In his reply, Dhoni said, "There's no comparison. We were just trying to copy a great pose by a great man. So, nothing beyond that because it's very difficult to think like him or do stuff like him, but at least we can copy the pose." When pointed out to Dhoni that it is difficult to think like him and be like Rajinikanth, the Chennai Super Kings captain nodded in agreement, but said, "On the field maybe, but...", and ended his reply with a smile.

MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings is expected to continue their strong showing in the ongoing edition of IPL and try and win the championship for the fifth time. Rajinikanth, on the other hand, is said to have recently wrapped up filming his portions in Jailer, with the film expected to release in theatres in the months ahead. The actor will also be teaming up with Jai Bhim director T. J. Gnanavel for the tentatively titled Thalaivar 170 to be produced under the Lyca Productions banner, which will feature music by Anirudh Ravichander. Furthermore, Rajinikanth will also be making an appearance in an extended cameo in his daughter Aishrwarya Rajinikanth's upcoming cricket-based film, Lal Salaam, starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles.
