On June 28, actress Meena's husband, Vidya Sagar passed away and his demise came as an absolute shocker for one and all. Vidyasagar, who was 48, died due to lung related ailments in Chennai. During the last week of March 2022, he was contracted with Covid 19 which in turn made his lung conditions deteriorate further. For the last few months, he was under medical care. Several notable film personalities including the likes of Superstar Rajinikanth, Sneha, Cheran, Rambha, and others paid their final respects to Vidyasagar at his residence. His mortal remains was cremated at Besant Nagar Crematorium on June 29 and Meena herself performed the final rites.

The visuals from the funeral event made the fans emotional. Two days after his demise, Meena has now shared her first official statement on the death of her beloved husband. She requested everyone to give her and her family privacy and not discuss anything about her husband's death. She also placed another request asking all the media houses not to broadcast any false information about her husband's demise. In the statement, she also thanked all the people who stood by her during this tough time.

Meena's heartfelt emotional statement read, "I am deeply saddened by the loss of my loving husband Vidya Sagar. I sincerely request all media to respect our privacy and sympathise this situation. Please stop further broadcast of any false information on this matter. During these difficult times, I want to express my gratitude to all those good hearts who helped and stood with our family. I would like to thank all the Medical Team who tried their best, our Chief Minister, Health Minister, Radhakrishnan IAS, Colleagues, Friends, Family, Media & My loving fans for sending love and prayers. Thank You, Meena Sagar".
