Media workshop from Tuesday

Malayalam director P.T. Kunju Muhammad, who has established himself as a director with his Magrib (1993) and Paradesi (2007), will inaugurate the fifth edition of media workshop, organized by Kondotty EMEA College, Kozhikode, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (January 20) in the college campus.

The four days programme, aimed at media students from various colleges and institutes across Malabar, includes seminars, symposiums, discussions and screening of movies and documentaries exclusively dealing with the status of print, visual, audio and new media in the contemporary world.

Writer and poet Kalpetta Narayanan will talk on ‘Literary journalism’ with special focus on the literary element in news during the second session on the inaugural day.

‘Why Media?’, a symposium on the sociology of the media, will be inaugurated by former Education Minister E.T. Mohammed Basheer on Wednesday. Mediapersons N.P. Rajendran, Yaseen Asharaf, T.P. Rajeevan, among others, will attend the symposium. V.S. Sasibhooshanan Nair, former head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Calicut, will talk on ‘Reel language’ of cinema.

The symposium ‘Course of the new FM Revolution’ will be opened by K.M. Narendran, programme head of All India Radio, Manjeri, on Thursday. Many experts from the visual media, including cinema, television, and new media, are expected to participate in all sessions.
