Director Rathna Kumar made heads in the Tamil film industry with his directorial debut Meyaadha Maan in 2017. The rom-com starring Vaibhav, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Indhuja and Vivek Prasanna went on to be well-received among fans, with the film turning out to be a box-office hit. Post the success of Meyaadha Maan, the filmmaker took a complete 360 degree turn with his next film, Aadai, which was an intense thriller, with Amala Paul delivering a power-packed performance. The icing on the cake, however, for Rathna came last year when he was announced to be coming on board 'Thalapathy' Vijay's upcoming film, Master, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj in which he served as a co-writer.

Rathna Kumar, who is an outspoken fan of Vijay, has this time shared a childhood picture of himself along with his siblings posing with the actor, who was shooting for his 1998 romantic psychological thriller film, Priyamudan. Vijay was seen in an anti-hero role, with accolades pouring his way, including the film turning out to be a critical and commercial success. Coming back to Master, XB Film Creators banner surprised fans on Friday by releasing the long-awaited 'Quit Pannuda' song lyric video on the occasion of composer Anirudh Ravichander's birthday. The Master album has turned out to be a phenomenal success, with Anirudh churning out hit numbers once again for a Vijay film after the 2014 box office blockbuster, Kaththi. The 'Quit Pannuda' song's lyric video has already crossed 2 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours of its release and is going strong, proving once again that the upcoming Vijay film is without a doubt the most-anticipated in recent times.

As for the release of Master, producer Xavier Britto and director Lokesh Kanagaraj have assured fans that the film will only see a theatrical release and not be coming out directly on any OTT platform as was being speculated sometime back. Billed to be an mass masala action thriller, the film will see Vijay facing off 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi, who is the antagonist. The Ka Pae Ranasingam actor had recently revealed that he plays a cruel villain, who is dreaded by many. Master also includes Malavika Mohanan as the female lead, followed by Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah, Gouri Kishan, Master Mahendran, KPY Dheena, Ramya Subramanian, Azhagam Perumal among others forming the supporting cast.
