Blockbuster Tamil film director Lokesh Kanagaraj has confirmed that talks are currently underway for Thalapathy 67. The hit filmmaker recently attended a special screening of Pa. Ranjith's latest production venture Kuthiraivaal and was asked by Galatta regarding his second collaboration with Thalapathy Vijay. Lokesh Kanagaraj went on to state that talks are currently underway for Vijay’s Thalapathy 67 while adding that an official statement from the concerned team will justify the announcement.
Lokesh Kanagaraj's latest statement is the first time the filmmaker has openly addressed the rumors of him joining hands with Vijay once again after their 2021 blockbuster Master. The duo's Master, which was released in theatres last year, went on to become a stupendous box office success, and also revived the Tamil film industry and theatre-going experience after cinema halls across Tamil Nadu were shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown. Lokesh Kanagaraj's words now will come as big joyous news for fans, who will be hoping for him to team up with Vijay once again for Thalapathy 67 after their Master.
Up until now, no production banner has been revealed to be attached to Vijay's next after his upcoming Beast and Thalapathy 66, and the wait is now on. The superstar is currently waiting for the release of his Beast this April, which has been directed by Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor fame Nelson Dilipkumar under the Sun Pictures banner featuring music by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander. Vijay is also expected to begin shooting for his Thalapathy 66 soon, which will be directed by Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally of Maharshi and Thozha fame and is being produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. Lokesh Kanagaraj, on the other hand, recently wrapped up production work on 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's action thriller Vikram also starring 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi and Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil.
