Galatta Media organised a special Fans Festival for actor S.J. Suryah and actor Marimuthu appeared as a surprise for the actor and shared some interesting insights from the formative years of the director-turned-actor. He shared an interesting detail about S.J. Suryah saying “Assistant Directror’s life is a struggle even to earn a few bucks. And after then that person gets a director chance, that too with Ajith sir as the hero and Simran and Jyothika in important roles. For that film, he did not ask for any salary."
"Then he got committed to a big film called Kushi. He had 'Thalapathy' Vijay playing the hero with Jyothika as the heroine. For that film, he got a few lakhs as advance. What we would all do, what I would do is separate it or give to my wife. He took the advance and gave it to a bike showroom. And gave every assistant director a bike, including me, Vetri, A.R. Murgadoss. He has that bike till now. One should have a big heart to do that. Even if it's Ambani, there should be a heart to donate it. For the first time, he sees a few lakhs and with that he got 7 bikes for all the assistant directors. so, they can travel well instead of on a bus or train." Marimuthu said that's how S.J. Suryah is and the Bommai actor replied "I love you, Sethupathi". Watch fill interview:
