Filmmaker Mari Selvaraj has established himself as a powerhouse name in Tamil cinema after his films Pariyerum Perumal (2018) and Karnan (2021) received acclaim from fans and critics, while also becoming huge successes at the box office. Currently busy with the post-production works of his upcoming film, Maamannan, starring Udhayanidhi Stalin in the lead role, the hit director attended a special event organized by actor Dhanush's fans in Chennai where he addressed the press and shared exciting details about his sports venture with Dhruv Vikram.
Dhruv Vikram's film with Mari Selvaraj announced in 2021 had been revealed to be a sports venture revolving around the sport of kabaddi. The news of the duo teaming up had created tremendous buzz among fans, with photos of the Adithya Varma actor along with the filmmaker during training for his role taking social media by storm. Speaking to media persons about his film with Dhruv Vikram, Mari Selvaraj said, "It's about an Indian kabbadi player who goes by the name of Manathi P. Ganesan. He's an Arjuna Awardee and the film is a biopic about him. He's my relative and very close to me. It has been my wish for a long time to make his story into a film and fix his career."
Mari Selvaraj has also revealed that he will begin shooting his film with Dhruv Vikram soon after he completes work on Udhayanidhi Stalin's Maamannan. He had also informed that he will commence shooting for his newly-announced film with Dhanush after wrapping up the Dhruv Vikram venture, which is expected to roll into production in the months ahead. Mari Selvaraj has his hands full with his film lineup and there will be plenty of excitement for the Dhruv Vikram-starrer considering many are looking forward to witness him in action on the big screen once again after his thunderous performance in Adithya Varma.
