Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is currently in the post production stages and is getting ready for a massive theatrical release on September 30, 2022. The film will have a pan Indian release on a record number of screens in 5 different languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the film has music composed by A.R.Rahman whose first single, 'Ponni Nadhi' has already turned out to be huge massive hit among the music lovers. The second single is said to release next week and the fans are eagerly looking forward to listening to the same.

A grand audio launch is expected to take place in the first week of September in Chennai and further details are awaited. Meanwhile, Ravi Varman, the cinematographer of Ponniyin Selvan took the fans by surprise by sharing an unseen BTS picture from the sets, on his official social media pages. The picture features him along with his camera crew capturing some of the important moments and it looks exciting. The pictures have turned viral among the fans and more such surprises and unseen moments are to be shared by the makers in the days to come.

Ponniyin Selvan has been made as a two part film and the first part of it will be released on September 30. Details regarding the release plans of the second part are yet to be known. Ponniyin Selvan features Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles while the supporting cast includes an ensemble list - R Sarath Kumar, R Parthiban, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, Lal, Jayaram, Aadukalam Kishore, Rahman, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Arjun Chidambaram, Jaya Chitra, Mohan Raman, and others. Chiyaan Vikram will be playing the character of Aditya Karikalan while Vanthiya Thevan and Arun Mozhi Varman characters are played by Karthi and Jayam Ravi respectively.
