We have seen the first visuals of Mani Ratnam's highly-anticipated Ponniyin Selvan and it looks astounding. The official teaser of the film has been released, much to the delight of the fans and film buffs, and this teaser is all set to take social media by storm. The teaser gives us a glimpse of the central characters of the film and we will have to wait for a few more days to see more of them. Chiyaan Vikram plays Aditya Karikalan, while Karthi and Jayam Ravi are essaying Vanthiya Thevan and Arun Mozhi Varman (aka) Ponniyin Selvan respectively. Trisha plays Kundhavai and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays Nandini. All the lead characters in Ponniyin Selvan look their part and the casting of the supporting actors has been interestingly done.

Lyca Productions has bankrolled the project on a grand scale and the high production to match Mani Ratnam's ambitious vision is visibly seen and one can be sure that Ponniyin Selvan will have an important place in the history of Tamil cinema. A.R.Rahman's terrific background score is one of the major highlights of the teaser and the legendary composer hits the ball out of the park with his grand orchestration. His songs and re-recording are going to play a vital role in elevating the movie-watching experience for the fans. Ravi Varman's cinematography is outstanding and brilliant and he seems to have aided Mani Ratnam's vision effectively. The shots are neatly and aesthetically composed and the grandeur is established well. Thotta Tharani's production design is stellar.
From what we see, it looks like Ponniyin Selvan will be a technically sound film. The fans are surely in for a solid treat. Mani Ratnam, the maverick filmmaker, seems to have achieved what he wanted to, and let us hope that the film satisfies the masses. Ponniyin Selvan is slated to release in theatres on September 30 and it will release in 5 languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
