Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is the next mega biggie from Tamil cinema and the fans have pinned high hopes on this historical epic. Produced by Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies, the film will have music composed by A.R.Rahman and the fans are eagerly looking forward to the music album. The teaser of the film was released recently and it opened to an overwhelming reception from the worldwide audience. Ponniyin Selvan looks to be a potential winner and the film is expected to take a grand opening at the box office.

The film is slated for its theatrical release on September 30 and it will be released in 5 different languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. Meanwhile, the makers released an interesting BTS video and in this video, we see acclaimed writers and historians talking about the Chola dynasty. S Ramachandran (Historian), S Ramakrishnan (Writer), S Jayakumar (Researcher), Bharathy Basker (Orator), are the four personalities who are featured in this video and they talk about the achievements of the Chola Kings which has paved way for a smooth livelihood for generations to come.

The Cholas are the origin for water management and they have several other achievements to their credit. Ponniyin Selvan film will definitely feature many of these achievements and it looks like an exciting treat awaits fans.

Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan play the main leads, while the supporting cast includes the likes of Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Lal, Jayaram, Rahman, Aadukalam Kishore, Parthiban, Arjun Chidambaram, Mohan Raman, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, and others. Chiyaan Vikram will be essaying the character of Aditya Karikalan while Karthi and Jayam Ravi would be playing Vanthiya Thevan and Ponniyin Selvan respectively. Trisha plays Kundhavai and Aishwarya Rai plays Nandini.

The post production works of Ponniyin Selvan are progressing at a brisk pace and is right on track for its release on Setpember 30.
