Mani Ratnam defends prison break scene in Kaatru Veliyidai

Director Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari has received mixed reviews from the audience and critics. A group of people pointed out that a prison break scene from the movie is not authentic. To put an end to the questions, Mani Ratnam, in a statement elaborated about the scene. He says, “When Flight Lieutenant Dilip Parulkar was shot down over Pakistan on December 10, 1971, he quickly turned that catastrophe into the greatest adventure of his life. On 13 August 1872, Parulkar along with Malvinder Singh Grewal and Harish Sinhi escaped from a POW camp in Rawalpindi.” This scene was inspired by the book called ‘Four Miles to Freedom by Ms Faih Johnston.
