Mani Ratnam is one of the leading and sought-after directors who is a well-known actress in India. He made his debut with the film Pallavi Anu Pallavi and went on to do multiple hit films including Mouna Ragam, Nayakan, and Thalapathi and became popular across India with the film Roja. Ponniyin Selvan is said to be the magnum opus of the filmmaker, which is a two–part film adaptation of a popular Tamil book series written by Kalki. The first part of the film was released last year and drove people to theatres and the next part of the movie is scheduled to be released on April 28. The film Ponniyin Selvan: 2 has a massive star cast and has music composed by A.R. Rahman.

The makers of Ponniyin Selvan Lyca production announced that a grand trailer and audio launch event of the film is set to happen from 6 PM today at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. As the event is to happen today, The filmmakers have launched a special poster revealing when the trailer will be released online. The poster shows Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini standing in front of the throne and has a blood-stained sword in the background with stills of Vikram as Aditha Karikalan, Karthi as Vandhiyathevan, Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhi Varman, Trisha as Kundhavai and Aishwarya Lekshmi as Poonguzhali. This poster was shared with the caption “Enter the world of intrigue and Romance: PS2 trailer from today!”. It shows the trailer of the film will be released online at 9.30 PM today.

Ponniyin Selvan also strong technical backing with renowned Ravi Varman handling cinematography, Sreekar prasad on editing, Thota Tharrani as art director and Eka Lakhani as costume designer. Ponniyin Selvan: 2 has huge expectations among fans and the first part ended leaving the audience with multiple questions. Comparing the posters of part 1 and 2 of Ponniyin Selvan, it shows the sword that was upright in the first on had turned upside down and has been bloodied, showing there will be death of an important character.
