The gangster film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon under Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh's Vels Film International banner and featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman is the talk of the town, with the team releasing the much-awaited 'Mallipoo' video song on Tuesday, September 27. Sung by Madhushree to the lyrics penned by Thamarai, 'Mallipoo' picturized on Simbu in VTK received a thunderous response in theatres and has since become a massive hit on audio streaming channels and YouTube this year.
The 'Mallipoo' song comes at a pivotal moment in Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu when we see STR bonding with his roommates in Mumbai where he is employed as a hotel employee after moving from Naduvakurichi in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The song has STR shaking his feet to A. R. Rahman's lilting tune and peppy beats, with fans also celebrating in theatres everywhere by dancing to the visuals on the big screen. VTK is yet another successful album for 'Oscar Nayagan' A. R. Rahman and 'Mallipoo' has played a major role in propelling the buzz for the film.
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu crossed 50 crores in collections in four days and is en route to becoming the biggest box office victory for Silambarasan, Gautham Menon, and A. R. Rahman after their previous collaborations - Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016). The film has actress Siddhi Idnani as the female lead Paavai, who has delivered an impressive performance and has since gone on to become a youth sensation. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu ended on a high note teasing the sequel and a confrontation between STR and Jaffer Sadiq as Rawther aka Muthu Raasa, with Neeraj Madhav and Raadhika Sarathkumar also set to reprise their roles as Sridharan and Aaruthira, respectively.
