Actress Malavika became a huge sensation, especially among the '90s kids, and was featured in several notable Tamil films alongside leading names till 2009. Having made her debut in Ajith Kumar's Unnai Thedi in 1999, she soon became a heart-throb appearing in big films like 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Chandramukhi, 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Vasool Raja MBBS, 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Kuruvi, Suriya's Perazhagan, while also making heads turn with her performances in films like Thiruttu Payale, Naan Avanillai, and Thirumagan to name a notable few. Having settled down in Mumbai since she got married in 2007, Malavika recently in an exclusive interview with Galatta revealed the backstory of dancing with Vijay in the 'Dandaana Darna' song in Kuruvi released in 2008.

Narrating her experience about shooting for Kuruvi, Malavika said that she was already three months pregnant when she filmed the song alongside Vijay. She said, "We shot the film in 2007. And, we filmed the race sequence first. I was excited because Vijay is like South India's Hrithik Roshan. I was looking forward to dancing with him. But, I got pregnant at the time. When they shot the song, I was three months pregnant and the doctor informed me I can't dance. And, that is why I appear in the song like a model walking from one end to the other. If you watch the song, I have not danced." She added, "I would wonder why director Dharani didn’t shoot the song earlier, which would have allowed me to dance with Vijay then."
Malavika, who is making a comeback to acting and Tamil cinema after more than a decade in the upcoming Jiiva and Shiva-starrer Golmaal, has become the talk of the town after she recently took part in an event in Chennai, which also saw 'Superstar' Rajinikanth grace the occasion, with the actress posting a selfie on her social media. She revealed that she had to ask actress Meena to help her with the picture, which has since taken social media by storm. Malavika also informed how she met Rajinikanth once again after Chandramukhi in Mumbai when she was eight months pregnant and asked the veteran actor if he still remembered who she was while adding that she queried him the same once again at the event held recently in Chennai.
