Making my son sing was not planned: Rahman
Not one to give vent to his emotions, Oscar winner A.R. Rahman is pleased at the way his Hollywood venture Couples Retreat has been received. The great challenge for Rahman was in bringing the spirit of the island which couples visit on holiday. He was happy he had succeeded in creating music catering to movie's mood.
It is one thing to compose a song for a Tamil movie but how did he manage the Hollywood flavour? Rahman said the idea germinated when the makers looked for some exotic stuff to go with the mood of the island's visitors. It was not too difficult, he said, as once the Tamil words were finalized in sync with the music. This is the first lyric penned by Rahman.
Another first for Rahman was the marks allotted to his work. “They have a system to judge the inputs and have animated discussions if the track would be popular with audiences, an idea worth emulating in the Indian industry,” said Rahman.
On his little son rendering the 'Nana...' number, Rahman said it was unplanned. It just happened when he was looking for a voice to suit the mood and music.
