The Madras High Court on Friday gave orders for the release of the highly-anticipated Vijay Antony film, Pichaikkaran 2, by rejecting a petition filed by Mangadu Amman Movies' V. Rajaganapathy. He had made an appeal to the court to stop the release of the upcoming film on the claims that it violated his copyright over the storyline. Dismissing the application upon the request for an interim injunction, the court directed Vijay Antony Film Corporation Limited to present a statement of account related to the business of Pichaikkaran 2 in the form of an auditor's certificate sixty days after its release so that it could assist in determining the commercial civil suit.

Mr. Rajaganapathy in his suit had moved the court claiming the Pichaikkaran 2 storyline is based on a theme related to a brain transplant similar to the film titled, Aaivukoodam, produced by him in 2016. The plaintiff sought to stop the release of Pichaikkaran 2 until the suit alleging copyright infringement was disposed. On the contrary, advocate Vijayan Subramanian, who was representing Vijay Antony Film Corporation, informed the court that several films from around the world were made on the theme of brain transplant and have also been released. He added that it is far-fetched for the plaintiff to claim copyright over a theme and stop others from making films on it.
Stating that Vijay Antony Film Corporation was not involved in any copyright infringement, the advocate also brought to the court's notice that Vijay Antony would sustain huge financial losses if Pichaikkaran 2 was not permitted to release. Announced to be launched into cinemas on May 19, the film will be coming out in Tamil and Telugu languages. An intriguing trailer for Pichaikkaran 2 was released recently and has gotten fans mighty excited as it shows Vijay Antony in a completely stylish and suave avatar.
