Maamanithan is an Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Seenu Ramasamy and produced by Vansan Movies and Yuvan Shankar Raja under his YSR Productions banner. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie, K. P. A. C. Lalitha, Guru Somasundaram, and Shaji Chen. In addition, Yuvan composed the soundtrack of this film along with his father, Ilaiyaraaja. The cinematography and editing were handled by M. Sukumar and A. Sreekar Prasad, respectively. The movie released in theatres today (June 24) across many screens.

In this day and age that we live in, OTT platforms aim to acquire the digital rights of a film in order to stream it on their respective platform which in turn generates revenue for them. Well, this time it is the Arha Media & Broadcasting Private Limited owned aha Tamil that has managed to bag the right to this film. Enlightened by this, the over-the-top streaming service took to its Twitter handle and announced the news by saying "மாமனிதன் படக்குழுவினருக்கு ஆஹாவின் மனமார்ந்த வாழ்த்துக்கள்! ❤️ Happy to have bagged the digital rights for #Maamanithan". The Tamil part of that translates to, "Aha's heartfelt congratulations to the Maamanithan crew!"

The film which has finally been released today has been in development since 2016 right after the success of 2016's Dharma Durai. The film's shooting started on 15 December 2018 and was wrapped up on 12 February 2019. But the film's release was delayed due to financial issues. But with that out of the way now, Maamanithan looks like it will have a strong run at the box office.
Maamanithan narrates the story of an autorickshaw driver who wants his children to complete their education at a public school. Unfortunately, he gets caught in dire circumstances. The story of the movie progresses as the protagonist tries to overcome the adverse situations.
