Luck By Chance vs. Victory
Today is Friday and Bollywood has a new set of contenders for the box office. This week, it is Luck By Chance vs. Victory. In other words, it is Farhan Akhtar vs. Harman Baweja.
After the runaway hit Rock On!, Farhan withhis sister Zoya Akhtar, comes to the silver screen with a fresh story – an insider's view of Bollywood. An out-and-out Bollywood-behind-the-scenes movie, Luck By Chance is Zoya's directorial debut. Commenting about the movie,Zoyacalls it a family drama that portrays the daily grind of strugglers who seek entry into Bollywood; hours of waiting outside the producers' offices, facing rejections by directors, humiliation at auditions and victimization at the hands of established actors. It shows how personal prejudices, individual idiosyncrasies and rejections create havoc in the lives of numerous Bollywood aspirants.
Luck By Chance has Farhan and Konkana Sharma in the lead roles. Hrithik Roshan plays a guest role while many other Bollywood veteransappear incameo roles. The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has many chart-buster tracks.
Victory is a movie about India's modern religion – cricket. Harman Baweja of Love Story 2050 plays the lead role of a small-town boy who aspires to be a cricketer and play for the Indian team. When his dreams come true and he leaps into superstardom, he does not know how to diligently manage his sudden fame. He is thrown out of the team on account of indiscipline and non-performance. How the underdog cricketer rises up to acritical situation and proves his mettle again, forms the crux of the story. The movie has cameos played by cricketers from Australian, Sri Lankan and Indian teams.
Though bothflicks are very different from one another, both deal with one common theme – the indefatigable tendency of the human spirit to fight till the end.
