Having delivered three back-to-back box office successes last year (Viruman, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, and Sardar), Karthi's first big release of 2023 is Ponniyin Selvan: 2 scheduled to open in theatres worldwide on April 28. He is at present shooting his landmark 25th film, Japan, under Raju Murugan's direction, which is expected to come out in the months ahead. In addition, Karthi is also the only actor in Tamil cinema to be a part of three sequels starting with Ponniyin Selvan: 2, while he will reunite with PS Mithran for Sardar 2 and Lokesh Kanagaraj for Kaithi 2. There is tremendous buzz for Kaithi 2 as expectations are high to witness Karthi in a big-screen face-off with his his brother Suriya, who appeared in an electrifying cameo as Rolex in Vikram, with fans also hoping to see Kamal Haasan and Fahadh Faasil, including Vijay if LEO ends up being a part of the LCU.
