The video shows an interaction between Ritika Singh, who is playing the character of a police officer investigating a murder case, meeting with her higher official named Mansoor Ali Khan, played by John Vijay, and the entry of the character played by Vijay Antony.

Kolai Glimpse video shows John Vijay playing a cop, who goes by the name Mansoor Ali Khan and has a lethargic manner, and he asks for updates about a case to his subordinate played by Ritika Singh. While the official proposes the involvement of another person named Vinayakan in the investigation, she says they can get evidences to find the killers. The IPS officer then defames the character of the girl who was murdered. At that time actor Vijay Antony enters the scene with case files and says he will take up the case after hearing what the official had said about the girl. The sneak peek ends with Vijay Antony saying "I will help you with this case".
The trailer for Kolai showed that the film will be an investigative thriller, and Vijay Antony plays the role of a retired cop sporting a salt-and-pepper look. The film by Balaji K. Kumar has Irudhi Suttru-fame actress Ritika Singh playing a young cop. The previous film by the director was a neo-noir crime thriller Vidiyum Munn that received critical acclaim, and his next film is releasing after nearly a decade. The film also has an ensemble of cast, including Vijay Antony, Ritika Singh, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Murli Sharma, Siddhartha Shankar, Kishore Kumar, John Vijay, and Arjun Chidambaram. It will have music composed by Girishh Gopalakrishnan.
