Maestro Ilaiyaraaja has been honoured by the Kerala Government with the prestigious Nishagandhi Puraskaram today. Along with the award, the Kerala government has also decided to allocate five acres of land for the musician to open his own music academy. The award was presented by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
