Following the success of the 2012 film Kazhugu, the director of the film Sathyasiva decided to use the title again as Kazhugu 2 to give a boost for his new film. Sathyasiva retained Krishna and Bindu Madhavi for the lead roles and also added some new names for Kazhugu 2. Kaali Venkat and Crane Manohar played supporting roles as the popular Bigg Boss star Yashika Aannand made a cameo in an item number. Produced by Singaravelan under the banner Madhukkoor Films, the film's music was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja who composed for Kazhugu as well. Raja Bhattacharjee has handled the camera while Gopi Krishna made the cuts.
Kazhugu 2 released on August 1st but the movie failed to follow the path its previous version and ended up as a failure joining the long list of failed sequels. The team has now released a new video song named Adi Yendi Pulla sung and composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The lyrics for the song are penned by Mohan Rajan.
