Known predominantly for his antics in comedy, Karunas started out as a singer initially before entering the Tamil film industry as an actor.
He was first noticed by director Bala, who nudged into a comedic relief role in his 2002 film, Nandha starring Suriya, Laila and Rajkiran.
Since then, Karunas has gone on to act in numerous films and also starred in several of them as a hero.
After registering himself to be a comedic talent, Karunas forayed into the political arena by starting his own party by the name of Mukkulathor Puli Padai. He later formed an alliance with the AIADMK, became MLA with the support of the Late Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J. Jayalalithaa and then pledged his support to the TTV Dinakaran faction after her demise.
Meanwhile, there are now reports stating Karunas has decided to call it quits in politics and will from hereon return to acting. The actor, while visiting the St. Anthony’s Shrine in Dindigul district opened up saying politics was no longer letting him be an open person as his parents had raised him to be. He also poured his views on the present EPS-OPS-run state government calling them ineffective in their efforts.
