Karthi's next film Viruman is currently in its post-production stages and has been directed by Muthaiah under Suriya's 2D Entertainment banner. Touted to be a mass action rural family entertainer, the upcoming film's first look has been released on Friday on the festive occasion of Pongal and shows Karthi looking focused and raring to go to war against the wrongdoers. Viruman is the second film Suriya is producing for Karthi after the astounding box office success of Kadaikutty Singam in 2018, which as well was set amidst a rural backdrop. Viruman has been generating tremendous excitement right from the moment of the film's announcement last year as it will see Karthi paired with blockbuster Tamil director Shankar's daughter Aditi Shankar, who is making her acting debut. The response to her introduction alongside the Kaithi star has been huge and fans have been mighty enthusiastic on social media for her arrival on the big screen. Viruman is incidentally the second venture Karthi and director Muthaiah are collaborating on after their 2015 film, Komban, which turned out to be a box office success.
Being planned for a summer release, we can expect the makers of Viruman to delight fans with more treats in the days ahead as post-production is progressing at a brisk pace and is expected to be completed soon. The film also has music by celebrated composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has come on board a Karthi venture for the fifth time after previous films like Paruthiveeran, Paiyaa, Naan Mahaan Alla and Biriyani, and fans will be counting on him to deliver yet another memorable album. Apart from Karthi and Aditi Shankar, Viruman features an ensemble cast that includes names like veteran actor Rajkiran, National Award winner Prakash Raj, Soori, Myna Nandhini, and Manoj Bharathiraja to name a notable few.
