Karthi's next film Viruman directed by Muthaiah under Suriya's 2D Entertainment banner is currently in its post-production stages and is scheduled for a grand worldwide theatrical release on August 31. Touted to be a mass action rural family entertainer, the upcoming film featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja will see Karthi sharing screen space with blockbuster director Shankar's daughter Aditi Shankar, who is making her acting debut. In that light, promotions for Viruman have kicked off now as the team released the lyric video for the first single titled 'Kanja Poovu Kannala' on Wednesday. Sung by Yuvan and Sidsriram to the lyrics penned by Karumathur Manimaran, 'Kanja Poovu Kannala' is a peppy number and includes foot-tapping folk beats that will instantly be liked by youngsters and a breezy hummable melodious tune that will strike a chord across audiences and listeners across all ages. 

Yuvan Shankar Raja, who delivered a chart-buster album in Paruthiveeran for Karthi's debut more than a decade back, has once again hit the bullseye with his 'Kanja Poovu Kannala' song in Viruman. The film is also the fifth collaboration between Karthi and Yuvan after Paruthiveeran, Paiyaa, Naan Mahaan Alla, and Biriyani, while the composer did the background score for the actor's Sulthan which was released earlier this year. Fans expect Yuvan to deliver yet another sensational album with Viruman and the 'Kanja Poovu Kannala' song is no doubt a solid start for the composer's fans. Expectations for Viruman have been high ever since the film was announced last year and is also the second time Karthi has teamed up with director Muthaiah after their Komban in 2015. Likewise, the film is the second occasion Suriya is producing a venture for Karthi after the spectacular box office success of Kadaikutty Singam in 2018, which too was set amidst a rural backdrop.
