Actress Kaniha became a strong acting talent to reckon with after her debut in director Susi Ganesan's Five Star in 2002. She next landed roles in films like Madhavan's Aethiree and Cheran's Autograph and garnered a good fan following. Having said that, Kaniha's career reached the peak when she was cast opposite 'Thala' Ajith in Varalaru in 2006, which turned out to be a phenomenal box office blockbuster. Although she has since then only been seen in a cameo in Mani Ratnam's O Kadhal Kanmani starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in 2015, the popular actress has gone on to star in a number of high profile Malayalam films, including making appearances in Telugu and Kannada ventures.

Kaniha will next be seen making a big comeback in 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi's upcoming film, Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir, being directed by debutante Venkata Krishna Roghanth, a former associate of director SP Jananathan. The actress, who is active on her Instagram page, posted an old picture of herself, and drew comparisons with her current looks. Speaking about the need to love one's body, Kaniha has said that people must "show that middle finger and walk away", in case anybody indulges in body shaming.

Kaniha captioned the picture on her Instagram page saying, "Sigh!! Obviously an old pic of mine..Like many of you I was also going through few of my old pics and saying how thin I looked, how flat my tummy was,how nice my hair looked bla bla bla..And suddenly I realized why I was doing that, does that mean I'm unhappy the way I look now?? No way..infact I love myself more than I have ever done..I believe those scars, the marks, the flaws all have a beautiful story to tell..If everything looked perfect where's the story? Right?! Learning to accept and love our bodies is so so important..Please stop comparing yourself to others, We all have different stories.. Please stop feeling lesser.. Please start loving that body of yours.. If anyone body shames you, show that middle finger and walk away! #loveyourself #kaniha #stopbodyshaming".
