"Mindset keeps roaring its ugly end in cinema too... FICCI is here to formulate ideas and develop skills. Our agenda is to create 1.2 million skilled workers in the next few years and I want it 50-50 (men and women)," Kamal Haasan said while speaking at a panel discussion on ‘Evolution of women in film’ that he moderated on the concluding day of the Media and Entertainment Business Conclave of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), yesterday.
When G. Dhananjayan, chief of film business (south), Disney UTV Pictures, said that he approached many top actress in south with the remake rights of Dirty Picture and Kahaani but they simple refused it, Kamal replied that they don't want to risk taking up woman-centric roles. "They would rather act in supporting roles so the risk of failure falls squarely on the lead man," he said.
"Women technicians don't exist much, because it is men who make rules," he concluded.
