The news of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu's re-release will no doubt come as a big delight to many who will be looking forward to catching in action on the big screen once again in the new enhanced version, with the wait now on for the re-release date.
Last year, Kamal Haasan surprised fans during the audio launch of Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu by giving his first confirmation about a script being developed for the Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu sequel. The actor said, "Gautham Menon had shared an idea for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2 a couple of years back. I had asked him to finish the complete script and come back to me. We both want the story to be done." Gautham Menon, who too shared the stage with Kamal Haasan, said, "Your favorite writer Jeyamohan sir is writing the script, sir. It will reach you soon." Later, during an exclusive interview with Galatta, writer Jeyamohan shared his plans for the sequel and said, "We have discussed a one-line and need to develop it further. In the first film, Kamal Haasan played the role of a police officer who was in service. Now, if we make this film, he will be retired. So, it comes down to why a retired officer is once again being called back to duty. The story will start from that point and go forward."
