The wait has come to an end for DC Comics fans as the highly-anticipated teaser trailer of Joker: Folie a Deux is now out and gives viewers the first visual glimpse of what awaits them in cinemas this year starting October 4. Billed to be a DC Elseworlds project taking place outside the main cinematic DC Universe (DCU), the upcoming film sees Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as Arthur Fleck aka. Joker after Joker (2019), which earned him and Academy Award for Best Actor, with global singing sensation Lady Gaga joining him as Harley Quinn. Joker: Folie a Deux or Joker 2 is the sequel to filmmaker Todd Phillips' psychological thriller Joker and is set to showcase Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga as partners in crime out to cause mayhem in the fictional Gotham City.
The Joker 2 trailer begins with Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck in prison where he meets Lada Gaga's Harley Quinn, with several moments showing a romance blooming between them. We then see the duo deciding to break out of jail after which they set off on a ride of mayhem and embracing each other's craziness, while leaving behind a trail of destruction. The Joker: Folie a Deux teaser trailer also showcases that the film will be a musical, with several visuals showing cinematographer Lawrence Sher's skills coming to the fore.
Joker 2 will see Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga being joined by Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lotte, among others in the cast, while the music is scored by Hildur Guonadottir, who won an Academy Award for Best Original Score for her work in Joker. Expectations for Joker: Folie a Deux have been massive right from the get-go and fans are looking forward to see how filmmaker Todd Phillips is going to push the story forward after the events in the 2019 original, which grossed more than a billion dollars in global collections.
