A film that left fans of Tamil cinema quite surprised during the time of its release, Indru Netru Naalai, went on to become a critical and commercial hit and was jointly produced by Thirukumaran Entertainment and Studio Green banners. The science fiction comedy film had Vishnu Vishal, Mia George and Karunakaran in the lead roles and was also the directorial debut of R. Ravikumar. Now, Thirukumaran Entertainment’s CV Kumar has now issued a statement announcing an Indru Netru Naalai sequel is indeed in development with R. Ravikumar penning the script this time and his associate SP Karthic helming the project, cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan B and music by Ghibran.
With filming on Indru Netru Naalai 2 set to begin from September and comedian Karunkaran set to be part of the upcoming sequel, the rest of the cast and crew will be announced in the days ahead. The announcement of the sequel comes today on the fourth anniversary of Indru Netru Naalai’s release in 2015, which has been billed to be the first time travel film in Tamil. It remains to be seen whether the second film will pick up from where the first film ended or a completely new story.
Director R. Ravikumar went on to deliver a hit with his Indru Netru Naalai and is at present working on his next film, SK 14, with Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, which will have music by A. R. Rahman. Incidentally, the upcoming venture too will be a science-fiction film and is being billed to be yet another ambitious venture.
