IFFK: Parque Vie wins Suvarna Chakoram
Mexican film Parque Vie, directed by Enrique Rivero, won the Golden Crow Pheasant Award (Suvarna Chakoram) for the best feature film at the 13th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which concluded in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. Mariana Rondon, who directed Postcards from Leningrad, won the Silver Crow Pheasant Award (best director). His film Postcards from Leningrad also won the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Award.
The Silver Crow Pheasant Award for the best debutant director went to Huseyin Karabey for his Turkish film My Marlon and Brando which also won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Film Centre (NETPAC) Award for the best Asian film in the festival.
Sri Lankan film Machan, directed by Uberto Pasolini, won the Audience Prize. Nandita Das (director of Firaaq) and Algerian film The Yellow House (directd by Amor Hakker) won the special jury award. The FIPRESCI Award for the best Malayalam film went to Manjadi Kuru, directed by Anjali Menon. She also bagged the Hassankutty award instituted this year for the best debutant Indian director. The NETPAC Award for the best Malayalam film was bagged by Adayalangal, directed by M.G. Sasi.
The Golden Crow Pheasant Award for the best feature film comprises a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh and a statuette. The Silver Crow Pheasant Award for the best director carries a purse of Rs. 3 lakh; the Silver Crow Pheasant Award for the best debut director, Rs. 2 lakh. Audience prize has a cash�award of Rs. 1 lakh and the Hassankutty Award Rs. 50,000.
