Vinay Rai became a sensation among Tamil cinema audiences after his debut in Unnaale Unnaale (2006) and hit the bullseye once again in Jayamkondaan (2009). Seen also in key roles in Endrendrum Punnagai (2013), and Sundar. C's Aranmanai (2014), the popular actor impressed everyone with his impressive performances in the negative role in smash hit films like Vishal's Thupparivaalan (2017), Sivakarthikeyan's Doctor (2021), and Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan (2022), and will grace the big screens once again as an antagonist in Hip Hop Tamizha's Veeran directed by ARK Saravan of Maragadha Naanayam fame produced under the prestigious Sathya Jyothi Films banner.
With Hip Hop Tamizha's Veeran scheduled to open in theatres on June 2, Vinay sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta to talk about the highly-anticipated superhero film, while also opening up on why he doesn't attend audio launch events. He said, "The only reason I've never gone for a couple of audio launches is they've not paid me. I'm not going to continue. You're paying me for my services and I'm straightforward about it. There's nothing wrong. You've called me to work. I will be on time to work and I will go back. I'll do exactly what you do."
Explaining his decision to opt out of audio launch events, Vinay stated, "I do not get involved in the politics of cinema. I enjoy what I'm doing right now. And, if you've not lived up to your contract and you are trying to persuade me to come and promote the movie when you screwed me over, doesn't work that way. And, you can hold that against me. You can make the mistake and blame me for not coming to the audio launch, but the fact that I am quiet about why I'm not is... So, I don't really have anything to say."
