Suriya sir is like a family member for all our Agaram Foundation students - Gayathri!
Gayathri from Neivasal in Tanjore district. Our village didn't have proper education facilities and I had to face a lot of difficulties to study. I was helped by Agaram Foundation to complete my graduation. Two books - Ulagam Pirandhadhu Namakaaga and Vidhyasam Thaan Azhagu were launched at an event by Agaram Foundation, recently! This event was attended by Suriya and a lot of other dignitaries. Ms. Gayathri, an Agaram Foundation benificiary, took to the dais and spoke at this book launch event! Gayathri shared the story of her struggle and how she has now turned into an English teacher, with Agaram Foundation helping in her education!
Gayathri's emotional speech left Suriya in tears and he hugged her and expressed his solidarity for her. This speech has now catapulted Gayathri into the limelight and we got to have an exclusive interview with this young girl, who is quite an inspiration! With gaining education as her only aim, Gayathri braved all the odds and studied English Literature on a scholarship from Agaram Foundation and is now working as an English teacher. Hailing from a backward village, from an economically backward family, Gayathri is now the breadwinner after her father passed away due to Cancer.
In our interview, Gayathri states that while everybody else looks at Suriya as being a big star and a top actor, students of the Agaram Foundation look at him like their own brother and a member of their family. Having educated herself, Gayathri is now working towards helping other underprivileged children achieve their dreams by getting into the Agaram Foundation!
