EXCLUSIVE: Pathu Thala working experience and STR's direction possibilities - Gautham Karthik opens up!

Gautham Karthik will be seen in the highly-anticipated  Pathu Thala starring Silambarasan TR in the lead role under Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame Obeli N. Krishna's direction on March 30. Playing the role of an undercover cop in the upcoming gangster drama, the actor recently sat down for for an interview with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus, to talk about his experiences about working with Simbu, while also revealing what he observed up-close about the flamboyant star. 

Speaking about how talented and well-prepared STR as a performer is, Gautham Karthik stated, "With regards to STR, he is just multi-talented. I have been blown away by him how I have seen him approach and it’s like you won’t see him unless he is on the spot and when he is on the spot he is the character. So, you don’t get to see more than that. There is a brief moment during Pathu Thala shooting where he decided, 'Okay, let’s talk to him', and he came and spoke to me. He started narrating stories completely not of this. So, you know if a person can go to a totally different story and started narrating a totally different story, you know he is completely prepared for this. So, I know there is a lot of preparation work that he has already done. Like, what is his next direction’s possibilities and so you know he is totally prepared here because he looks set. He looks confident. He looks like he knows what he is doing. So, he is mentally prepared already. So, he can take that time off that brain energy off to go and think about another story and come back as well. So, his preparation styles are unknown, you can say." 

He added, "I have seen him before his transformation and after his transformation. I will tell you one thing though; before or after, he is very talented. And, when it comes to his behavioral things, I would tell that he is one of the most genuine people I know. He will speak his heart out loud. There is no hiding, there is no guessing. If he likes it, he likes it. And, when he likes you he will go all out for you. And, if he doesn’t like you, he stays away. He is like, 'Your life, my life'. So, this is one thing I really appreciate from him. There is no falseness at all. If he likes you, he likes you. And, that’s why he’s got such a huge fan following and that’s because when he gives his heart out, he gives his heart out. Whether it gets hurt or not he doesn’t care. This is coming from what I’ve seen."
