Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke's dinner offer to raise money for coronavirus relief
Actress Emilia Clarke, known world over for portraying the character, Daenerys Targaryen, in the smash hit global blockbuster fantasy drama TV show, Games of Thrones, based on author George R. R. Martin's books, has now taken to her Instagram page requesting people to donate money to her charity organization, SameYou, which helps those recovering from brain injuries and strokes.
This new initiative by Emilia Clarke for SameYou is in the hopes of making new beds for the National Health Service (NHS) for the coronavirus patients. Clarke, who founded SameYou after revealing that she had suffered from two brain aneurysms during her early days in Game of Thrones, appeared on video and stated, "We are creating a virtual rehabilitation clinic so brain injury survivors have somewhere to go and somewhere to feel safe and somewhere to not feel so alone and isolated, which I think is a good thing. We need to do all we can to release as many beds as possible to free up our hardworking NHS,".
Furthermore, twelve donors will be chosen randomly, who will then get an opportunity to sit down for a virtual dinner with the Game of Thrones star. Emilia Clarke hopes to raise as much as £250,000 for SameYou with the new initiative announced to be a partnership with the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Massachusetts and the University College London Hospital. Emilia added, "We’ll cook together and eat together. And, we will discuss lots of things - isolation, fear and also funny videos. And, you know, the fact that I can’t really cook. So, it’s going to be fun,".
