The world's first Debut Awards, conducted by Galatta & BOFTA, was a resounding success! The BOFTA Galatta Debut Awards 2018 had a starry sheen with the presence of many top stars and celebrities from Kollywood. Many veterans also graced the event with their presence and felicitated the debutant winners.

Sivakarthikeyan won the Best Debutant Producer (People's Choice) award for Kanaa and also the Best Debutant Lyrics Writer for his song in Kolamaavu Kokila. Sivakarthikeyan's daughter Aaradhana was also among the winners list bagging the Best Debutant Singer (Child) award for her song 'Vaayadi Pettha Pulla', in Kanaa. This was not all... His maiden production venture's director Arunraja Kamaraj picked up the Best Debutant Director (People's Choice) award and the movie's distribution company - Aarudhra Films was adjudged the Best Debutant Film Distribution Company. Sivakarthikeyan's character in Kanaa - Nelson Dhilipkumar, was named after his real-life director friend of the same name. Nelson Dhilipkumar also won the Most Entertaining Film by a Debut Director for his movie - Kolamaavu Kokila!
Overall, it was a night of quite a big wins for Siva and his family & friends. His speeches on stage and the moment when Vikram and him took over the anchors' jobs, were heart-touching moments for the audiences! Sivakarthikeyan's interaction with Aaradhana left the viewers cheering wildly for more. Despite having picked up all his awards very early in the event, Sivakarthikeyan and his family stayed on till the end and cheerfully applauded and encouraged all the other winners.
