When the 'Aalaporan Thamizhan' song in Mersal was released in August last year, the response turned out to be phenomenal and overwhelming.
The song featuring 'Thalapathy' Vijay and Nithya Menen went on to achieve a chart-buster status in quick time and catapulted the film to a whole new plane.
Six months later, Aalaporaan Thamizhan’s popularity from Mersal directed by Atlee under the Thenandal Studios Limited banner hasn’t simmered down one bit and that is evident with the number of views the video song has stacked up on YouTube.
Composed by A. R. Rahman with lyrics penned by Vivek Velmurugan, the song sung by Kailash Kher, Sathya Prakash, Deepak, and Pooja Vaidyanath has gone on to cross over 20 million views and just goes on to show the kind of impact it has had on Tamilians world over.

The Aalaporaan Thamizhan song also marks the fourth time that a video song of Vijay has gone on to hit record number of views.
The distinction of most number of views ever for a Vijay song goes to PaPa PaPa from last year’s Bairavaa.
The Nilaayo song once again from Bairavaa follows suit at the second place.
The romantic ballad song En Jeevan from Theri is positioned at the third place.
We can say 'Aalaporaan Thamizhan' has a fair shot at eclipsing the record number of views of these songs in the coming days.
