Superstar Rajinikanth's blockbuster 2005 movie Chandramukhi in itself, was a remake of the cult 1993 Malayalam hit Manichitrathazhu. This movie has been remade in a number of other languages and all of the versions turned out to become mega hits. The Bollywood version of Chandramukhi was titled Bhool Bhulaiyya and it had Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel in the lead. This movie, directed by Priyadarshan, released in 2007 and became one of the biggest grossers of the year. A horror comedy with psychological elements, Bhool Bhulaiyya got nominated in a number of categories at various award events. Now, it has come to light that there's a sequel in the making for this movie and the first look poster has just been revealed!

Chandramukhi remake sequel

Titled Bhool Bhulaiyya 2, this sequel stars Kartik Aaryan in the lead and supposedly he is reprising Akshay Kumar's role. The first look poster, which very much resembles the poster of the first part, has Kartik Aaryan in the clothes of a Sanyasi with skulls and skeletons around him. A caption on the first look poster mentions, "13 Saal Baad... The Haunting Comedy Returns", which actually stands for the 13 year period after which the sequel is scheduled to hit the screens. Reports state that Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 would be hitting the screens on July 31st, 2020!

This sequel, directed by Anees Bazmee, is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani and Krishan Kumar, under the T-Series Films and Cine 1 Studio banners. There are reports that Sara Ali Khan, Jhanvi Kapoor and Ananya Pandey are being considered to play the female leads in this sequel. Kartik Aaryan had recently bagged the lead roles in Aaj Kal directed by Imtiaz Ali and Mudassar Aziz's Pati Patni Aur Woh. The 28-year-old Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety star sure seems to be on a roll!
