Financial fraud case: Roma questioned
Malayalam actress Roma and director Major Ravi were questioned by Kerala Crime Branch personnel on Saturday at Kochi in connection with recent controversial financial fraud case of Sabarinath, the key-accused, who is being investigated on the charges of defrauding people of crores of rupees by accepting deposits on the promise of giving high returns.
Official sources said that Roma was questioned in Kochi when she arrived there for shooting of the upcoming film Lollypop, being directed by Shafi. They said the actor admitted to having accepted money for an album for the music company owned by Sabarinath. She also attended a function hosted by Sabarinath in the city.
Roma and Ajmal had worked in an album named 'Malayali' of Sabarinath. “I put in about two hours work for the album produced by Sabarinath's company and had received one lakh rupees as remuneration. Music director Jugs Bejoy roped me for this project and I attended several business promotional programmes conducted by Sabarinath. For this, I have received only nominal remuneration. I have not received any gold ornaments in return.'' Roma said.
Roma also told investigators that she had no other personal or financial links with the suspect and was not an investor in the company. Meanwhile, director Major Ravi of upcoming Kurukshetra denied having any financial or personal link with Sabarinath. He told that he did not even know Sabarinath. Later, investigators said both were questioned to check the veracity of certain “insinuating” reports in the media.
