The #metoo movement brought out many silenced voices of harassment and abuse across the world. Leena Manimekalai was one of the artists who raised her voice against director Susi Ganesan and said she was a victim. Director Susi Ganesan has done films in Five Star, Thiruttupayale and Kanthaswamy. Leena Manimekalai has done many documentaries and feature fils. He recent feature film was Maadathy and the Documentary Kaali that had the controversial poster. Following the acquisition, the director Susi Ganesan filed a complaint that the acquisition that was raised by Leena Manimekalai was false. Now, the filmmaker has released a statement on social media on March 8.
The director Leena Manimekalai stated in the post that "the case that was filed by Susi Ganesan against me regarding #metoo allegation is still in court. The magistrate who investigated the case seized my passport against the law. I filed an case against the passport seizure and got my passport back. I am in Canada now as an Artist in Residence at Toronto University. The Madras High Court accepted my petition to change the magistrate of the case yesterday (7th March). Amidst this, A fake news is being circulated by the media is dangerous and I condemn it. I need not tell you who is behind this. Last year, I posted a tweet saying my life could be in danger because of Susi Ganesan and the director filed a police complaint against the tweet. My lawyer has replied to those allegations. If those complaints were true, an FIR would have been filed against it. It did not happen because it was false. Instead of taking the case he filed forward, Susi Ganesan is being involved in these subservient activities and media houses are supporting him, I warn them of legal action. I got to know that it was International Women’s day, Wishes and Thanks."
