Fahadh Faasil is teaming with Premam fame Sai Pallavi in upcoming movie, Athiran. Its recently released trailer has stirred up a controversy following allegations that the movie is based on Leonardo DiCaprio's popular Hollywood neo-noir psychological thriller film Shutter Island.

Meanwhile, its director Vivek clarified that his film's presentation style is quite different from the DiCaprio movie. Athiran falls under the same genre of Shutter Island. It is inspired by a number of Hollywood movies like Shutter Island, Stonehearst Asylum and Mollywood movies like Ulladakkam, Sesham, Devadoothan, revealed Vivek.

Athiran is an experimental movie, said the director adding that initially he wanted to make a romantic comedy with Fahadh as the hero. Fahadh appears as a doctor who treats psychiatric patients in this much-awaited movie.
