Dulquer Salmaan is all geared up to set the screens on fire starting August 24 as his highly-anticipated King of Kotha coming out also in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi languages releases as a grand Onam treat for audiences worldwide. Dulquer recently sat down with Galatta for an exclusive interview along with the film's female lead and Ponniyin Selvan fame Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sarpatta Parambarai star Dancing Rose Shabeer and spoke about what audiences can expect in the film, while also sharing their reactions to the rumors they've come across over the course of their careers.
Dulquer opened up saying, "I come across something or the other every day that leaves me laughing. They'll say that my father is buying all these opportunities for me. I would wonder how is that possible. I wouldn't understand. So, you can call a producer, give him money and cast this fellow? If that is the case, then there should be some rich people who can cast their kids in any movie. So, that is one recent thing I've been reading. My pan-Indian journey is all bankrolled by my father. So nice! I've been doing this for ten years and how do I prove that I also now make some money?"
Reacting to the claims of him buying expensive houses and charging high numbers for his salary, Dulquer said, "I do hear that, but I don't chase money so much. I have a belief that if you do your work passionately, wherein the film business, the money will come. But, I don't want to sign something because somebody's paying me a lot of money or me burdening some producer by saying, 'I'll do the film only if I'm paid this much.' I'm always like, 'Tell me what makes you comfortable and I'll figure it out. And, now as a producer, I can discuss money with my digital and satellite buyers. That's a proper negotiation. But, I can't do it with my producers. I don't get into that. And, after a point, I don't know if it's a little philosophical, but I had a lot of dreams when I was a small boy about buying this and that. And, you should do that for your younger self; that little boy or girl who had many dreams. Make that happen. But, after that, you're only buying multiples. You buy one shoe, you buy ten shoes. You buy one car, you buy ten cars."
