Dhanush's D51, which is also being called DNS after Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna and director Sekhar Kammula, also stars national sensation Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, and has been announced to be coming out in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages. Considering Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika enjoy popularity in the North states too, the film is expected to see the trio come up with interesting performances. Although no details have been revealed about DNS, it is said that the story is set during the 19980s-90s from the promotional posters unveiled up until now that showed a bunch of rupee notes from the time stacked together.
Announced first back in 2021, there are huge expectations surrounding DNS or D51 as Sekhar Kammula, who won the National Award in his directorial debut for his Dollar Dreams (2000), followed by films like Happy Days (2007), Leader (2010), Life Is Beautiful (2012), Anaamika (2014), Fidaa (2017), and Love Story (2021), is expected to come out firing on all cylinders with the Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika-starrer. Dhanush, who kickstarted 2024 on a big bang with the release of Captain Miller, is beginning filming D51 after recently wrapping up his highly-anticipated second directorial, the tentatively titled D50, while also announcing his third directorial Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam sometime back.
