Pa. Ranjith is known for making films that often discuss about the social–political scenario. His recent release in theatres was Natchathiram Nagargirathu. The next film of the director has created huge excitement among the audience titled Thangalaan. It has actor 'Chiyaan' Vikram in the lead role and the first look from the film was enough to create anticipation for the film. The film is set in the pre-independence era and is set in the Kolar Gold Fields. The director recently said that a major portion of the shooting of the film is over. Yesterday, The audio launch of Maamannan happened as a star-studded event in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Maamannan is an anticipated film that is set to release in theatres this month's end. Udhayanidhi Stalin revealed the event is to be released around June 29. The film also has 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu, Keerthy Suresh and Fahad Faasil in Important roles
Maamannan is directed by Mari Selvaraj who was introduced by Pa.Ranjith under his banner Neelam Productions with the film Pariyerum Perumal. Speaking at the event, the director said “Maamannan, It's a huge film just like the name and the audio release of the film happening on a huge scale. I am very happy. I saw some footage from the movie, and Mari Selvaraj showed me some of his works. It was very interesting. We have not seen Vadivelu sir in this kind of role before, it's very interesting and the songs are good too. I think Mari Selvaraj has discussed something he wanted to and it's reflected in the songs."
When asked about Thangalaan, The director Pa. Ranjith said “Thangalaan is almost going to be over. We are shooting from this (June) 15th, there are 12 days of shoot left and it will be over soon. Sarapatta 2 will be the next.” About Vikram as he had a rib injury recently, the director said "He is great". Thangalaan update shared by the director has become viral on social media.
