Legendary Tamil filmmaker Bharathiraja has been discharged from a private hospital on Friday, September 9, in Chennai and is now in stable condition after he had undergone treatment for more than ten days owing to ill health. The hospital management released a new statement that reads as follows: "Legendary filmmaker-actor Bharathiraja, 81, had been admitted for treatment at our hospital on 26/8/2022 following complaints of altered sensorium. He was placed under medical evaluation and monitored frequently in our Intensive Care Unit by a multidisciplinary team of doctors and medical professionals. He was later transferred to the ward after his condition had been stabilized and showed signs of clinical improvement. His condition is currently stable and was discharged today." Earlier, Bharathiraja was confirmed by the hospital to be suffering from a lung infection. 

Prior to being discharged, Bharathiraja had released a statement expressing his gratitude to the doctors and the medical staff for helping him on his road to recovery, while also thanking well-wishers and fans for their wishes. Bharathiraja's son Manoj released the statement on social media, which reads as follows:

"My Dear Tamil people, 

I am your beloved Bharathiraja. I was admitted to hospital recently due to a health issue, and I am recovering due to the excellent treatment and kind care of doctors and medical staff. 

I humbly request all my loved ones not to come to see me in person as visitors are not allowed in the hospital. I hope to get well soon and meet you all in person. 

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who have kindly inquire and prayed for my recovery in person, over the phone and online after hearing the news of my admission to the hospital. See you all soon.
