Director AL Vijay's recent film Devi 2 released worldwide on Friday (May 31st) and the movie opened to some decent reviews. With some positive word, the movie is off to a great start and is expected to do a good job in the coming day. Devi 2 is the sequel of the 2016 hit movie Devi which was directed by AL Vijay again. Both the movies had Prabhu Deva and Tamannaah in lead roles and the sequel additionally had Nandita Swetha, Kovai Sarala, and Dimple Hayati. RJ Balaji also made a guest appearance in the movie.
During the promotions for Devi 2, in a question about sequels, AL Vijay reportedly said that he would like to make the sequel of his 2013 film Thalaivaa. Thalaiva starred Thalapathy Vijay and Amala Paul in lead roles. Ragini Nandwani, Abhimanyu Singh, Sathyaraj and Santhanam were seen in other important roles. The political thriller produced by Chandraprakash Jain features music by GV Prakash Kumar.
Thalaivaa is one of the most controversial films in Tamil cinema as the film had a delayed release in Tamil Nadu and as a result, the film performed average in Tamil Nadu box office. Even though, the film has a separate fan base and AL Vijay's recent comment on Thalaiva sequel has given joy for fans. It will be an interesting move if the combo of Vijay and AL Vijay join back together for Thalaivaa 2.
